Probably the last hurrah for out door events this summer, Earth Dance couldn’t have asked for better weather.

This worldwide simultaneous dance party for peace in over 200 locations and 50 countries attracted a wide range of folks to the park at Spanish Banks yesterday. At 4pm a globally synchronized prayer for peace saw hundreds of people linking hands in a giant circle followed by a wicked line up of DJs.

Proceeds from this year’s donations went to Teen Journey and Camp Zajac for kids with special needs.

Since 2001, Women In Leadership has grown to a national level non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing Canadian women role models and advancing women’s leadership.

The foundation also supports a mentorship program, a speaker series and research studies on the attraction, recruitment and retention of women in Financial Services, Capital Markets, Engineering, Mining & Mineral Exploration and Construction Trades to address the current and looming labour shortages.

Yesterday’s event featured entrepreneur Gina Hole of They Representation, an agency for creative talents. It was fascinating to hear about her work to raise the Vancouver market in fashion, print and media to a more cosmopolitan level.
